Fab Got No Issue with Lil Wayne
NYC rapper Fabolous may have made indirect references to Lil Wayne and his remarks about New York on his record “So NY,” but in an interview with MTV News Fab stated that he never had an issue or bad feelings towards Lil Wayne after the YM rapper uttered his dislike for the city of New York.
Speaking with MTV, Fabolous said that the city hasn’t been the greatest music wise and expressed that he was hoping to lift a the state of mind with the release of “So NY.”
“It’s his opinion,” Fabolous revealed. “So if he doesn’t like New York it’s not a bad thing. I do feel he spoke it out because it was how he felt. New York isn’t at its strongest point musically or something like that. It’s also hard to say that about any place. I don’t care if you do an interview and say ‘Yo, I don’t like Kentucky.’
The people of Kentucky are gonna have a little gripe about that…I took what he was saying and tried to empower some pride back into New York. You know what I mean, ‘I’m so New York, Weezy probably don’t like me.’ That’s what it was more about. Just making a statement and taking what he said and motivating people with it.”
Fabolous even had a chance to get the issie straight with Lil Wayne when the two rappers both showed up at Club LIV in Miami.
“I seen him at Club LIV and when I saw him I was like, ‘I’mma go over there and holler at him.’ Just to check the temperature and make sure everything’s okay because you know people hearing things and I don’t know which way they took [it],” said Fabolous. “And he actually came over to me and came and said ‘what’s up’…That was the end of it there. It was no reason to dwell on it. I even actually took a picture for my Instagram just to show the people that it wasn’t no big deal.”
Keef no Beef with $6 mil Deal
After going through bidding war back in 2012 and eventually signing with Interscope Records, Chief Keef released his debut album Finally Rich last month.
But the conditions of the deal have remained private until now. DNAInfo.com has exposed that the three-album contract that Keef signed with Interscope could be valued at more than $6 million. The contract was made public in a court filing that requires a judge’s approval to finalize agreements. The court’s approval is mandatory by law because Keef, who is 17 years old, is a minor.
Interscope approved paying Keef a $440,000 advance, giving half early and half after a judge verifies the deal. The advance will be placed into a court-administed “blocked” trust fund on his behalf that is handled by his grandmother. Keef also was given a $300,000 deal to cover the expense of recording Finally Rich. His deals are determined by album sales, as Interscope has the right to drop out of the contract if he doesn’t sell 250,000 copies of the LP by December 2013.
He also inked a separate deal to control his own label, Glory Boyz Entertainment, and received yet another $440,000 advance. Both Keef and his manager, Rovan Manuel each receive $180,000 and possess 40 % of the label. Interscope is also required to pay GBE $200,000 for “overhead expenses,” and will divide profits equally with the imprint.
Upon release in December, Finally Rich came up at No. 27 with 50,000 copies sold. Keef is currently serving a 60-day sentence for breaking his probation.
