Lewis Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 4900 South Western Avenue in Los Angeles, will celebrate its 66th Church Anniversary on Sunday, January 27.

“We invite members, former members, and the entire community to join in this gala event and make this a real homecoming occasion.

“Our celebration theme is ‘Moving Forward With the Love of God’ and the scripture reference is Romans 8:28,” said Pastor Wendell M. Oldham Jr., who will preach at the 10:30 a.m. service.

At 3:30 p.m., the Rev. Darryl E. Walker, pastor of New Philadelphia A. M. E. Church, will bring the message. The Rev. Walker was licensed to preach in 1971 and ordained an Itinerant Elder in the A.M.E. Church in 1977.   Also, he has led several A.M.E. congregations during his ministerial career.

The Rev. Walker’s honors include being named one of the 100 most influential persons in Kansas City, MO, and ‘Pastor of the Year’ by the Northwest Missouri Conference Lay Organization. Married to Yvonne M. Smith, they are the parents of Donovan and Eric.
