City Council President Herb Wesson congratulates Bishop Charles E. Blake on his reelection as presiding bishop and his 44 years as pastor of West Angeles Church
City Council President Herb Wesson introduced a motion in the Los Angeles City Council recently, naming the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard in honor of Bishop Charles E. Blake.
Bishop Blake has been reelected presiding bishop of the Church of God in Christ, and is celebrating his 44th year as pastor of West Angeles Church.
“Bishop Blake has been and continues to be one of our preeminent spiritual and community leaders,” said Wesson. “We owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for his many contributions and the lives he has touched in our community, and on the continent of Africa through his leadership of “Save Africa’s Children.”
Once approved by the City Council and signed by the Mayor, Council President Wesson will lead a community celebration commemorating the designation and the posting of the signs marking the location.
“Bishop Charles E. Blake Square” will be one of many reminders that one truly committed individual can really make a difference,” said Wesson.
