Congregational Church group

Pastor James K. McKnight and the members of the Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship were very uplifted at the large numbers of congregants and friends who participated in the church’s 67th Anniversary Celebration.

The theme was ‘We Have Come This Far By Faith,’ a motto the members aim to grow into. The many people present enjoyed a delicious meal and were able to fellowship with each other.

Pastor McKnight urged the audience to pursue their passions and thereby enhance the church, which has a rich history of community involvement and dedication of service to others.

An early pastor, the Rev. James Hargett, was a civil rights activist who marched with Cesar Chavez and housed him in the church’s Fellowship House. During his leadership, the congregation assisted in establishing Kedren Mental Health Center and the LAUSD permit bus transportation of children from the inner city to selected schools in the district.

Also, founding members of the National Association of Negro Musicians attended the church, a scholarship fund was created and the Mission Board launched to feed the less fortunate on a regular basis. Currently, members are encouraged to remember the church in their wills and trust funds.

Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship is located at 2085 South Hobart Boulevard in Los Angeles. For information, visit cccf-ucc.org.
