For the tenth year, Spelman College will host its annual Leadership and Women of Color Conference. The two-day event will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center, May 14 - 15.

Convened by Jane E. Smith, Ed.D., executive director of the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement at Spelman, the conference will recognize the international accomplishments of women of color from 2004 to 2014 discussing topics centered on the theme, 21st Century Leadership: Leading Forward. The event for women in both the entrepreneurial, corporate and non-profit sectors will provide information and tools to help 21st century women of color strategically examine effective leadership strategies, explore working in diverse environments and discuss how to create healthy lifestyles and communities.

Through keynote speeches, panel discussions and "intimate conversations" with Spelman President Beverly Daniel Tatum, Ph.D., attendees will gain unique insight and leave with practical solutions to help them:

·       Identify strategies to specific global issues women of color will address in the next decade

·       Identify the importance of media in equity issues related to women of color in the workplace

·       Create laws that guarantee the rights of individuals using advocacy and policy

Newly added this year as part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration is the Game Changers: A Decade of Success Luncheon, saluting women of color and recognizing their leadership activities that have created positive changes globally. The Legacy of Leadership Awards Dinner is an elegant evening of memorable entertainment, outstanding speakers and inspiring stories of leadership. This year, remarkable women who are currently leading trendsetting initiatives that address current and future work force and societal issues are being honored. Confirmed speakers, honorees and participants will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Tenth Annual Spelman College Leadership and Women of Color Conference will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 14,  at the Georgia International Convention Center. For more details and to register, visit
