I Heard You
By Alfonzo Tucker (Columnist)
Published July 1, 2011

“I heard you”

You spoke your opinion, which I respect.

I heard the tone in your voice, it was that of regret.

You choose to save face, so integrity you replaced.

I heard you

And instantly, I saw life’s issues twist themselves between the creases of your eyes.

Many stories told, your forehead could tell no lies, I just read between the lines.

Your facial expressions know and release shame.

It is not your words that are to blame.

You can find redemption in the actions you claim.

Once you accept that, your voice will hold no pain.

If you smile, I’m sure you will hear life being lived as sane!
