Holman United Methodist Church’s 65th Homecoming will take place July 23 – 25. Last year, the Holman Choir paid tribute to the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Holman Choir’s annual Concert Under the Stars will again Kick Off the 3- day celebration which will feature a gospel festival, a basketball, volleyball and chess tournament and talent show for youth as well as free health screenings. All events and activities are free and open to the public.
“Still Walking in the Light Together,” is the theme for Holman United Methodist Church’s 65th Homecoming, July 23 – 25. The 3-day celebration will include food, music, games, health screenings, a combined worship service.
The celebration begins Friday evening, July 23 at 6:30 p.m. with the Holman Choir’s annual “Concert Under the Stars.” Last year’s concert featured a tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson and this year’s surprise musical section promises to be just as inspiring. Saturday’s festivities will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will focus on youth and young adults with a basketball, volleyball and chess tournament. Free health screening will be available on Saturday and Sunday.
Holman’s usual 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services will be combined into one 9:30 a.m. service providing an opportunity for the entire congregation to worship together and commemorate the 65th Homecoming. The weekend activities will conclude with a multi-cultural gospel festival starting at 1:30 p.m. Neighboring churches in the West Adams district and beyond will join Holman in a musical tribute of praise and unity.
