John McCain and his campaign have a strategy: To throw as much crap against the wall as possible and run on whatever sticks.
The tricky part is that no matter what he does, in the end, he’s still gonna smell like sh#t.
|Damn. Can you see him?|
McCain’s big punch was an unintentionally hilarious ad which juxtaposed Senator Obama’s popularity against Britney Spears’ and Paris Hilton’s celebrity. It was supposed to highlight McCain’s depth and experience versus Obama’s vapid celebrity. Instead it came off like a whiny chunk of celeb-envy and…with all kinds of race baited mockery. However, instead of my review, let me go to a credited source…The Hiltons.
If you haven’t seen it, Paris Hilton made a rebuke viral vid where she rebuffs McCain and comes with a hybrid of both campaigns’ energy position. It’s funny and well done. She refers to McCain as that “wrinkly white haired guy”.
You can see it here, http://www.funnyordie.com/
However, the real rebuke comes from McCain donator and supporter, Kathy Hilton, Paris’ mother. She and her husband forked up $4,600 and, as a McCain “stockholder”, voiced her opinion…loudly.
“I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States.”
Damn. Can’t get no mo’ obvious than dat!
Imagine a rich white man trying to become the next rich white man to hold the office held mostly by rich white men, chastising the first Black post-primary Democratic Presidential candidate for pointing out the obvious.
We knew this was going to happen. Okay I knew this was going to happen (read page 2 of my first blog “Wright Words Wrong Time?”).
Over and over again I have written about the desperation of the McCain campaign and the entire GOP to name call and dredge up the late 19th and early 20th century specter of Black Rule: Where fear of newly freed Black slave retaliation upon a “noble” White population is amped with filthy stereotypes of ignorance, degenerate behavior and overall societal collapse.
Senator John McCain accused Senator Barack Obama of “playing the race card” for softly alluding to the McCain campaign’s use of such tactics in their voice:
“Well, we know we’re (the GOP) not very good but you can’t risk electing Senator Obama. You know…he’s new…he…doesn’t look like the other Presidents on the currency…”
-Sen. Barack Obama
In short (literally), McCain has tried to attack the Senator from Illinois for pointing out the obvious; He is a black man. The GOP is going to try and use that coupled with fear mongering as a tactic to scare you away from voting for him.
In fact this strategy is a testament to the GOP’s attempt to distract the public away from many obvious things:
That, obviously, the Iraq war was wrong.
That, obviously, the Bush administrations stewardship of this nation has imploded the economy.
That, obviously, the World is ready for a new way of thinking via Senator Barack Obama.
That, obviously, no one plays the victim better than rich White men who have been running this nation into the ground for a better part of a decade.
Early on Senator Barack Obama told the world that he wasn’t going to commit to federal campaign funding because he needed his lead to set up counter attack measures from the GOP. This came shortly after he had directed the Democratic Party to shut down their own attack factories in lieu of a need for critical debates about huge issues and challenges facing this country.
These were sobering attempts to seem to take campaigning to another level. Of course the Senator is,…well…a Senator and he will find a way to work in his own attacks. Like against the Celebrity Envy ad which compares Barack Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
“Given the magnitude of our challenges when it comes to energy and health care and jobs and our foreign policy you’d think that we’d be having a serious debate but so far all we been hearing about is Paris Hilton and Britney Spears…
…I do have to ask my opponent Is that the best you can come up with?
Is that really what this election is about? Is that what is worthy of the American people?”
-Sen. Barack Obama
Moreover, Senator Obama doesn’t call them racists but “cynical”.
That’s nice but I am not bound by any decree of “higher” debate. The McCain Campaign is Filthy in their hypocritical “Bastardom”. It’s all they got and McCain comes off smaller than usual here. Like a Smurf in a funk because Senator Obama had 200,000 thousand to speak to. He then tries to act as if being that appealing in the world makes very little difference. Except for the fact that we need the world for a healthy America I might be able to see his point. I mean the last guy was immeasurably unilateral and look at what a success he is.
…McCain is either a liar or suffering from pre-dementia.
DODDERING AND TEETERING ON
On June 13, 2008, at a taped New Hampshire event, McCain said,
“I’m not for, quote, privatizing Social Security. I never have been. I never will be.”
On November 18, 2004, McCain announced,
“Without privatization, I don’t see how you can possibly, over time, make sure that young Americans are able to receive Social Security benefits.”
And in March 2003, McCain backed his President, declaring,
“As part of Social Security reform, I believe that private savings accounts are a part of it – along the lines that President Bush proposed.”
During a February 15th rally in La Crosse, Wisconsin, “McCain promised he’d offer a balanced budget by the end of his first term.” But just days later, McCain’s senior economic adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin announced a deficit-ending target of 2017. In mid-April, Holtz-Eakin proclaimed, “I would like the next president not to talk about deficit reduction.” McCain, too, signaled the retreat from his first-term balance budget commitment, explaining to Chris Matthews on April 15th that “economic conditions are reversed.”
Apparently economic conditions have improved dramatically since then. On June 6, Holtz-Eakin squared the circle, announcing, “That plan, when appropriately phased in, as it has always been intended to be, will bring the budget to balance by the end of his first term.”
In other words…I’m for what I was against which really I was for in the first place.
FURTHER MORONIC STRIDES
Let’s see McCain joked about “Bomb, Bomb Iran…” – crude, unfunny and even more ridiculous because it’s from a man who could conceivably order the bombing of that nation.
Hopefully killing Iranians with cigarettes. –this is especially heinous because the issue here was, after calling them one of the axis of evil and a sponsor of terror, amazingly, neither the Bush administration NOR McCain had any problem with the tobacco industry doing big business in Iran.
A joke about rape. -well c’mon he IS a conservative.
Claiming that Iran was training Al Qaeda….twice;
Speaking to reporters in Amman, the Jordanian capital, McCain said he and two Senate colleagues traveling with him continue to be concerned about Iranian operatives "taking al-Qaeda into Iran, training them and sending them back."
Pressed to elaborate, McCain said it was "common knowledge and has been reported in the media that al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran, that's well known. And it's unfortunate." A few moments later, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, standing just behind McCain, stepped forward and whispered in the presidential candidate's ear. McCain then said: "I'm sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not al-Qaeda."
Once again McCain is either a doddering old fool or a cruel and ignorant tragedy: a tragedy because the man supposedly has 30 years of experience in government. So you would conclude that, after so many years, McCain would know when he was flat out against something or would at least have his staff vet a current comment. One would assume that he would know that joking about bombing a country that may be bombed in a war effort that has seen tens of thousands of American injuries and deaths and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi fatalities is inappropriately cold and stupid.
One would assume that, at no time during a campaign, is there room for a good ‘ol rape joke.
But like I said, he IS a conservative.
PLAYING THE P.O.W. CARD………..BADLY
McCain has not talked about his POW times unless he has talked about his POW times. His followers call him a war hero. It’s not for me to say who or who is not a hero in war. Frankly I feel that war heroes are a gray lot since the objective is to kill as many human beings as possible to the exhaustion of your enemy.
|General Wesley Clark|
Yet, Former Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark ret. put it better than anyone…
"I don't think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president."
- General Wesley Clark
McCain can’t lift his arms because of the torture the Vietnamese inflicted on him. So he is a hero because he endured torture. And that should make him Presidential material right?
SO tell me, how much political capital should a man keep who knows the specific pain and consequences of torture and then, when given the opportunity to completely ban it from America’s list of “things we do”,…votes against the measure and thus, to keep it.
You read right. McCain is FOR torture as reported by the Boston Globe,
“The Senate joined the House in passing an intelligence bill that would ban the CIA from using waterboarding as an interrogation tactic. The CIA would have to abide by the Army Field Manual, which also prohibits beatings, electric or temperature shocks, forced nudity, mock executions, and the use of dogs. Some of those abusive techniques were on global display in the torture photos from Abu Ghraib.
McCain, a Vietnam prisoner of war, has long condemned waterboarding as torture, making him more sensitive than President Bush on an issue that stained America's image. But the Arizona senator and virtual Republican nominee to replace Bush voted against the bill. Bush says he will veto the measure.
McCain said that while he remains opposed to waterboarding, "We always supported allowing the CIA to use extra measures."
Extra Measures? Let me tell you what EXTRA MEASURES mean to Black Folk who have always dealt with the torture and the terrorism of America.
In 1963 Fanny Lou Hamer was a Civil Rights Organizer.
While on her way back from organizing in Charleston, the bus was stopped and she and others were taken to jail. She was forced to lie on her stomach while White officers of the law, lifted her dress in the back and then forced Black inmates to beat her. They beat her until her “body got hard” they beat her until they were tired. They beat so bad that she suffered kidney damaged and a blood clot in her eye which eventually fully lost sight.
When John McCain voted against the bill banning torture this is the type of treatment he championed. Torture is torture. It is a door that can open a deep and dark patch in the hearts of men. Torture is Torture. It cannot be diluted by a debate of muddied syntax and parsed details. Torture is torture. Whether or not it is levied on an Admiral’s Son during war, in Abu Ghraib during a war on a noun or on a defenseless woman simply trying to encourage people to live up to the promise of America.
I cannot imagine Fanny Lou being down for others being beaten until they lose a kidney or ever forgetting the experience. I cannot envision ANYone forgetting and employing such tactics unless they are a raging hypocrite or suffer from dementia.
If it seems as though I am covering the vast numbers of Republicans with McCain’s dreck I am. And I will until THEY root out the ridiculous and dangerously lock stepped overtures of the neo-con and Karl Rovian race baiting tactics. I don’t care who in the party McCain is trying to please, he has sipped the kool aid and is no longer in control of his faculties. This rhetoric must be excised from the board so that real problems can be afforded real solutions.
If not, the cornerstone of the GOP will be in the form of a small, demented, filthy and stooped, race baiting, lying and torturous sonofabitch who is void of solutions and slumped atop a hollow elephant.
Now, how’s THAT for some name calling!
