X Games LA to Take Place June 28 – July 1
ESPN will present X Games Los Angeles 2012 from June 28 – July 1 – one month earlier than usual – bringing all the action back to downtown Los Angeles’ L.A. LIVE venues and event spaces, including STAPLES Center, Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, Event Deck at L.A. LIVE and the new downtown rally car street circuit with the debut of the Big Air ramp on Chick Hearn Court. Celebrating 10 years of X Games in Los Angeles, this year’s premier action sports competition will feature more than 200 athletes competing for medals and prize money in the sports of skateboarding, Moto X, BMX and Rally.
X Games is more than watching the best action sport athletes in the world compete on the sport’s largest stage, it is also an event that features interactive activities for spectators of all ages. The X Games is a family friendly event. Last year Los Angeles resident Tomeka Bradley and her family were among the estimated 141,000 people that attended the X Games.
“All the vendors have been really great,” Bradley said. “They’ve had a lot of great things for the kids to do, to get active and to get moving.”
The X Games is unique because fans are closer to the athletes than in any other sport. Last year Shawn Davis, who is a black student at Culver City High School and he hopes to go pro one day soon, attended the weekend event and watched his favorite athletes perform. ??“I just came here to look at some of my idols, because that’s where I want to be in the future… Paul Rodriguez, Theotis Beasley, Shane O’Neill, David Gravette… They inspire me to do better in life,” Davis said.
X Games will feature Kids’ Day, which provides the youth of Los Angeles with an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at a world class sporting event and get up close with X Games athletes. X Games competitors and various X Games partners are putting together an agenda filled with unique and exciting experiences that will leave a lasting impression. Kids’ Day will be on Thursday, June 28 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. & Friday, June 29 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Tickets for X Games Los Angeles 2012 will be available for purchase at Ticketmaster locations, TicketMaster.com/XGames and the box office at STAPLES Center. For more information about the X Games, visit their website at www.xgames.com
