Dymally Celebrates Mother Lee Omia Broadus Clegg As ‘Woman of the Year’

Assemblymember Mervyn M. Dymally (D-Compton) with his selection of Compton'sown Mother Lee Omia Broadus Clegg as the 2007 "Woman of the Year" forthe 52nd Assembly District which includes Compton, Paramount, North Long Beach,Watts, and South Los Angeles.

"Mother Clegg has dedicated her life to the City of Compton," saidDymally. "Her history demonstrates the passion and commitment she hasto Compton and its children. I am pleased to recognize Mother Clegg for herlife long dedication to the people of Compton."

Mother Clegg is a 54 year resident of Compton, the city where she raised hersix children, one of which is Compton's City Attorney Legrand Clegg. She hasa long and distinguished career including working as a staff member of theLos Angeles Council of Churches, the Willowbrook School District, and ComptonUnified School District.
