Courtship
By Alfonzo Tucker (Columnist)
Published August 11, 2011

While mesmerized by your splendor, I told myself, “If her personality is as attractive as her appearance, she may honor me by accepting my last name.”

My confidence carried the weight of change, though frightened; a simple “hello” is all I could offer you in exchange.

I witnessed your eyes dilate. For me that offered encouragement, my smile could no longer hibernate.

Conversation was my only request. Being in your presence granted me temporary fulfillment.

Your desires, your dreams, your goals, your life. I respect your path and agree with your plight.

When fatigue is upon us and our vigor is dim, can we both agree to communicate and not seal frustration within?

I pledge fidelity and ask for you to not compromise the pleasures between woman and man.

So, if you agree to share life with me, I promise to treat you as my novelty, a rare gem.
