Convocation Starts June 20

The Southern California First Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ (COGIC), under the leadership of Bishop Joe L. Ealy, announces its 97th Annual Holy Convocation beginning Monday, June 20, through Sunday, June 26.

“This Convocation will be a sacred time of reflection on God’s Word and an opportunity for spiritual growth. Our theme focus this year is, ‘The Church Specializing in What We Do Best.’ We invite the community to fellowship with us all week long,” said Bishop Ealy.

“The innovative and inspiring workshop sessions include some of the most influential, Godly professionals and spiritual leaders in the nation,” he said.

The sessions start on Tuesday, June 21, at 9:15 a.m., at Gospel Memorial COGIC, located at 1480 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach. The morning worship service will begin at 12 noon. Each weeknight at 7 p.m., worship services will be held at David Starr Jordan High School, 6500 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach.

Women’s Day will be observed on Thursday, June 23, at 9 a.m. Dr. Barbara McCoo Lewis, State Supervisor, will give the Convocation Address. On Sunday, June 26, at 3 p.m., Bishop Ealy will preach at the Official Day service. It will be held at West Angeles Cathedral, 3600 Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles where COGIC Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake is pastor.
