CBC’s Meeting with Attorney General Eric Holder

Washington, DC – Recently, the Congressional Black Caucus met with the United States Attorney General, Eric Holder–the first African American to ever serve in this prestigious role. ¬†They discussed a myriad of issues including juvenile justice, federal contracting for minority businesses, new state voting laws, and the impact of draconian budget cuts on the Justice Department. Attorney General Holder discussed his ongoing commitment to preservation of civil rights and the accomplishments of the Department of Justice including efforts in crack-cocaine sentencing disparities, fair lending and housing, and juvenile justice. Members of the CBC reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the relationship with the Attorney General and agreed to continue the dialogue on key issues impacting the country’s most vulnerable.
