The Mary M. Kidd Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) will celebrate its Annual Day on Sunday, May 20, at 9 a.m., at Brookins Community A.M.E. Church, 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles.

“Our guest speaker will be Mrs. Mary Kirkland, Episcopal Supervisor of the Fifth District of the A.M.E. Church. Please join us in saluting the tremendous work of our missionaries under the leadership of Mrs. Katie Johnson,” said Pastor C. Dennis Williams.

Mrs. Kirkland is married to the Rt. Rev. T. Larry Kirkland, presiding bishop of the Fifth Episcopal District. In her current capacity, she provides leadership and guidance to WMS units operating in the Fifth District.

She also served as supervisor in the 9th and 17th Episcopal Districts of the A.M.E. Church. In addition, she headed the WMS at Brookins for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Kirkland’s career in education spans over 30 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University and completed graduate studies at Delta State, Pepperdine, and CSU – Dominquez Hills universities.
