Blacks History Art Contest Calls for Entries

In Tribute to Black History Month, area Jr. and Sr. High School students are invited to compete in a drawing contest on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the “Art Walk In The Plaza” Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, 3650 West Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

Held in BHCP’s Community Room at 10am, the competition will be hosted by the Jammin Foundation and judged by a panel of renowned artists. Each student competing will be presented art supplies and challenged to draw a historical figure or scene/event from Black History. All competing students will be invited to a special master class with renowned-featured artist Emmanuel Taiwo Jegede from 2pm until 4pm.

Winners will be announced the following day, Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 2pm.

Top winner will receive $500 for his or her school to purchase art supplies.

The Jammin Foundation is a 501c3 organization whose mission involves using art, music and science to build confidence and leadership skills in today’s youth.
