The birthday of Christ Jesus will be celebrated throughout the Southland by several churches and ministries highlighting ‘the reason for the season.’ Among the family-oriented activities planned are worship services, concerts, outreach events, and theatrical shows. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church
Pastor Reginald A. Pope and members will host a Fellowship Breakfast on Sunday, December 18, at 9:15 a.m., at 10905 South Compton Avenue in Los Angeles.
“We are looking for all members who united with Bethel in 2011 to attend. Our goal is to identify their spiritual gifts and begin grafting them into the body of Christ, which is the church,” said Pastor Pope.

Brookins Community A.M.E. Church
A Christmas Musical is set for Sunday, December 18, at 4 p.m., in the sanctuary located at 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles, announced Pastor C. Dennis Williams.
“Our Mass Choir, Male Chorus and Children’s Choir will sing traditional and contemporary selections and we will have presentations by Bro. Willie Mayes and our Praise Dance Ministry,” he said.

Christmas Day will be celebrated with three events, said Interim Pastor Roderic L. Bell, and the public is invited to attend.
“This glorious day begins with a free southern-style breakfast at 8:45 a.m., followed by our Christmas program at 9:30 a.m., presented by our Children and Youth Department, and a spirit-filled worship service at 10 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there,” said Rev. Bell.

Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship
“Join us for two joyous Christmas events on Sunday, December 18, at 4 p.m. We will hold our ‘Songs of the Season’ Annual Christmas Concert and 2nd Annual Old Fashioned Dessert Walk,” said Pastor James K. McKnight.
The concert, under the direction of Nemiaya Ward, will feature soloists Ashley Faatolia, tenor; Amber Mercomes, soprano; Randall Lindsey, soprano; Lura Daniels-Ball, contralto and the Sanctuary Choir. Ebenezer Baptist Church
‘Jesus is the Reason for the Season’ will be presented by Ebenezer’s Drama Ministry on Saturday, December 17, at 6:30 p.m., at 4901 South Avalon Boulevard in Los Angeles.
“Come out and support our youth and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas,” said Pastor Kenneth E. Little. The production, directed by Karen Coleman and Camill Benjamin, tells the story of two young African American men living separate lives who together realize the real purpose of this season.
Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church
Offering good, Christian fun, Pastor Miquail Broadous invites the community to ‘A Mo-Town Christmas Banquet’ on Saturday, December 17, at 6 p.m. The event, which features performances by each church auxiliary, takes place in the church’s Fellowship Hall at 7017 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles.

Park Hills Community Church
Together with The R.O.C.K. Church, Park Hills will sponsor ‘The Miracle of Christmas’ on Sunday, December 18, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at 5247 Overdale Drive in Los Angeles.
According to Elder Anna Gonzales, “The entire two blocks in front of the church and Windsor Hills School will be closed off for this great indoor/outdoor event.” The activities include snow sledding, trackless train rides, arts and crafts, along with Christmas carolers, movies and a manger with real animals.
Second Baptist Church
The joy of Christmas will be celebrated all day on Sunday, December 25, beginning with worship at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., announced Pastor William S. Epps.
“At 12:30 p.m., you are invited to celebrate with us in Griffith Hall. The festivities will include live music, activities for all ages, a sing-along, delicious food and warm fellowship. A $20 donation is requested, however, whatever you can afford will be accepted,” said Dr. Epps.

A full day of Christmas reverence, fellowship and good cheer will be presented on Sunday, December 18, at 1177 West 25th Street in Los Angeles, said Pastor Joseph C. Nixon.
